Story
"One liter of used cooking oil can pollute one million liters of water, and 25% of water pollution is caused by used oil."
Rooted in the Indian tradition of jugaad (frugal innovation), Oleum began with a mission to tackle the environmental impact of 706 million gallons of used cooking oil polluting our oceans annually.
Our journey began back in MYP 5, when a simple science project ignited a passion for innovation and sustainability. We saw a problem with oil wastage in our school and decided to do something about it. Through tireless experimentation in the chemistry lab, we achieved something remarkable: we turned waste cooking oil into a revolutionary 3-in-1 cleane
What started as a simple classroom experiment in saponification evolved into a venture that now produces 250 liters of eco-friendly cleaner monthly. By October 2024, we’ve repurposed 600 liters of oil, turning waste into opportunity while fostering sustainability and innovation."

Club Oleum!
Join us in making a real impact. As a volunteer, you'll gain hands-on experience in sustainable entrepreneurship, product development, and environmental conservation. Be part of a team that repurposes waste, prevents pollution, and builds a cleaner future. Oleum’s team consists of 40 dedicated members from grades 6 to 12. Together, we tackle environmental challenges and scale production while learning valuable entrepreneurial and sustainability lessons. As our senior members graduate, new leaders will take the reins, ensuring continuity and innovation
